Always followed by a reception!

The day after the wedding we spent setting up for the reception that night. My parents put so much time and effort into it, and it really showed. Every time I talk to anyone about things like receptions, they always tell me that they never go exactly like you plan, and there’s always something that goes a little wrong and you just have to try and ignore it…not this one! Between Cody and I, as well as my parents…nothing went wrong…everything went off without a hitch and it was beautiful. You could feel the magic in the air, it was so fanciful…just like a fairy tale. :)

My really good friends from when I worked at Ross all took the night of work to come to the reception. Above is a picture of most of us…

Above was my project baby for the reception….In the old chest were old family heirlooms from both my side of the family as well as Cody’s. Next to it, down the table were wedding pictures of our parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and continuing back. It was so neat to be able to honor and share our special day with other family members that had already passed on in a small little way.

And the infamous cutting of the cake! “Haha, I’m going to get you…” were his words while cutting the cake. “Oh, be nice, Cody!” Were the words his mother and grandmas were saying in response. Well…apparently no one heard my  response of “Two can play that way…” because Cody decided to play nice…Nah, not me. :)

Daddy daughter dance. "Father & Daughter” by Paul Simon.
Since my brother did our DJing, my dad chose a song for us to dance to, specifically for him and I. It was a song I was unfamiliar with, but is definitely one of the most dear songs to my heart now.

There was the newlywed couple’s first dance…

And finally…there was one last special dance that I knew from the start I wanted…a special dance with my brother. He’s been my closest friend. The person dearest to my heart. My other half…
And now that I’m married…I have another boy in my life. But nobody can ever replace my brother. So we had our special dance, to a special song he had chosen for him and I.

And finally, my little sister and my dear hubby. Some things just make your heart smile…that was one of them. :)
